About

This postgraduate course offers insight into constitutional and administrative law, which forms a foundation for government action. Questions such as "what are the limits to government action?", "what are administrative bodies and decisions?", and "how do government bodies relate to each other" are central. Legislative and judicial procedures are also addressed. The course is therefore ideal for people who work in government organizations that exercise administrative powers or who are generally interested in government structure.

During the course, participants will gain a brief overview of the constitutional and administrative law system used in the Caribbean countries. This knowledge will be deepened in several specific areas, reaching an academic master's level. With the acquired knowledge, participants will then be able to familiarize themselves with other specific areas within constitutional and administrative law.

Over six half-day sessions, a new topic will be covered each time. Prescribed literature and/or case law must be studied beforehand. Participants will discuss these topics interactively during the course, and complete practical assignments. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation.
• The postgraduate course is taught by one or more staff members of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department of the Faculty of Law of the University of Aruba.

Requirements

Participants must have at least a higher professional education (HBO+) level of understanding. Basic knowledge of the Trias Politica and various government bodies is also essential. Relevant work experience at a (government) organization where they encounter constitutional and administrative law is a plus.
