Omschrijving

Unveiling Organizational Communication: Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders In today's world, organizations have become the focal point of modern society, wielding power that often eclipses traditional institutions like the state, family, church, and community. Within this landscape, the study of organizational communication emerges as a critical subfield, examining and critiquing the role of communication in these contexts. This course aims to highlight communication's impact on organizational life and its significant impact on this complex and changing world that shapes our society. Often taken for granted, these organizations influence our way of life, which we rarely question. However, history reveals that organizations have evolved through diverse communicative practices, and this evolution will continue as they adapt to future cultural changes.

This course explores organizational communication and its different theoretical approaches (e.g., classical management, human relations, human resources, etc.), as well as how it is applied in contemporary organizations. Contemporary organizations must embrace innovation, leadership, and effective communication to address challenges and foster development in today's volatile world. Organizational communication is crucial for any business or institution, encompassing formal and informal channels like face-to-face interactions, emails, meetings, etc. It enables information flow, task coordination, decision-making, and overall organization management. Students will understand the theoretical framework by exploring the concepts of socialization, decision making, conflict management, organizational change and leadership, diversity and technology. Global and local cases will be used to explore the different approaches and processes to using communication as a strategic tool.
